Deciphering the writing of the Indus valley
civilization

Abstract
The writing of the Indus Valley
Civilization (IVC) plays an important role in the origin and
development of writing in early cultures. Applying a table of
syllabic values traditionally attached to asterisms in Hindu
astrology has revealed that the Indus Valley seals are name seals of
prominent rulers mentioned in the vedas and puranas. The Ikshvaku dynasty figures prominently. A seal has been identified as that used by king Dasaratha of Ayodhya. The Dholavira signboard has been deciphered as
MINNAGARA NAHRIN. Additionally the observation of these script symbols on the coins of
Indo-Greek kings show that the writing system continued without any
decline and gradually transformed to the Brahmi script.
